Mi Cultura Mexicana Documentary

Directed & Produced: Jose Angel

As a photographer and filmmaker very early on in life I knew that I wanted to create and tell stories with my photography and filmmaking. I was heavily influenced and inspired by mentors and legends Alfonso Cuarón, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Pedro Pablo Ibarra and Guillermo del Toro, Mexico's finest. So it only made sense that I would go on to create a short story about my culture, heritage and traditions. Come with us on a journey as we take you through the beautiful streets of Mexico City, Queretaro, Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende and it’s surroundings. I also wanted to take this special moment to dedicate this story to my dear parents may they rest in peace. Thank you for always instilling in me the importance of being a proud Mexican.

THE CAR WASH THERAPY SESSION

Directed & Produced: Jose Angel

Losing both of his parents very early on in life and losing a few close friends along the way due to gangs, violence, drugs and shootings made him realize quickly that he needed to choose a different path for his future. That’s when he decided to pick up a camera and tell stories and the rest was history. The mind is a powerful tool, going into this project I knew that I wanted to get as creative as possible with it because mental health is an extremely important topic for me. As a mental health advocate myself I wanted to take you into this journey where I want you to just relax and enjoy the session. The creative process and direction behind this scene is that I want you to embrace and immerse yourself into the moment and leave all your mixed feelings and emotions behind and let them get washed away and as you’re exiting you’ll find yourself with a clean and better conscious and mindset, leaving all your bad moments, bad feelings and bad thoughts behind and you’re entering a fresh beginning. We all have different ways of coping with stress, anxiety, depression or losing a loved one. It’s ok if this session makes you sad, happy, relaxed, joyful, soothing or if it makes you cry because it reminds you of something tough that you went through in life, it’s all part of the healing process let it stimulate all your senses. Just remember that no matter what, there’s always going to be light at the other end of the tunnel and there's always hope.
